2003 Island Games - Day 3
(Story dated: 4pm - Tuesday, July 1, 2003)

Island Games Clay Pigeon Team

Orkney's Clay Pigeon Shooting Team

After a disappointing, and hard, two games, Orkney's footballers won their first match this afternoon, beating Alderney 3-1.

Among the events on today was the Golf, which saw Orkney's men's and ladies' teams in action. At the time of update the competition was ongoing but Stromness golfer Brian Corsie is the highest placed Orkney man at 17.

In the Clay Pigeon, Orkney's Dennis Stevenson was 19th in the Olympic Trap Individual, with Antoine Pietri at 114. The English Sporting team were tenth with a score of 84.

Among the young swimmers hitting the pool today were Jamie Croy, Robert Morris, Bobby Oag and Gary Sinclair, who although achieving some personal bests have been up against tough competition. But despite this, the young swimmers had always regarding the Games as a learning experience rather than something they expected to take medals from.
