Located on the shore of Kirkwall Bay, Macfoys Brewery & Bar brings together small-batch brewing, a spacious taproom and views across the harbour.
The brewery produces its beers on site in 2000-litre batches, using quality grains and hops alongside the skill and experience of the master brewer and team. The core range includes Hazy Pale Ale, gluten-free Classic Lager, Red Ale, IPA, Stout and a newly released Alcohol-Free IPA, with seasonal beers and collaboration brews also planned.
Macfoys’ brew house is a 10bbl semi-automatic system, designed and manufactured in Scotland to the brewery’s own specification. Built with energy-efficient and labour-saving elements, it can produce up to 4000 pints a week. Bottling, keg filling and packaging are also carried out on site, helping to keep the beer fresh while reducing unnecessary transport.
Alongside the brewery, Macfoys offers a 110-seat taproom and events space with uninterrupted views over Kirkwall Bay. The venue hosts live music, charity events, live sports fixtures and community gatherings, and is also available for private hire including weddings, birthdays, reunions, club events and social occasions.
