Air Ambulance

Air Ambulance combines the historical development of a unique aspect of aerial activity in Scotland with the personal experiences of some of the people whose lives it has touched during its six decades of operation.

While Part One of this book traces the development of the Scottish Air Ambulance Service, Part Two recalls some of the events that have become special memories, such as the tragic crash of a Heron on Islay which had such a profound effect on so many people connected with the service. It also frequently refers to the little touches, such as beach landings on Barra or the famous Macleod picnic basket, which have become part of air ambulance folklore.
