For most of his latter years, the renowned Orcadian poet and novelist, George Mackay Brown, sent out Christmas cards which included both an original seasonal poem which he had composed for the occasion, together with an illustration, again, especially commissioned.
These cards were preserved by his niece who lives in Stromness, George's home town on Orkney, and it is her collection which features in this volume.
This is the first time that these cards have been published and they mark a very valuable addition to the author's body of work.
