Neolithic Orkney, 2600 BCE. When Marna leaves Skara Brae to visit her friends Fara on the small island of Eynhallow, she hopes for a pleasant rest, but the villagers have their own problems. Fresh water is scare, the animals are ill and soon after Marna arrives, a young girl is poisoned.
News of the death reaches the priests at the Ness, and the island is forced to play host to a delegation led by the Head Priest.
Not everyone is happy with their interference and the poisoner strikes again.
Can Marna trust the charming stranger who claims to have healing powers and can she discover who or what is spreading the evil in Eynhallow?
