Death Notices

DREVER. – Peacefully on Tuesday, 30th December, 2025, John M. aged 67 years, of 80 Strathy East, Strathy, and formerly of South Tuan, Westray.   Much-loved husband, dad and grandad, a dear son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Funeral service private at his own request.

FLETT. – Elizabeth Walls, nee Towers, formerly of Gelderhouse, Dounby, passed away peacefully at Smiddybrae House, Dounby, on the 31st December, 2025, aged 91.

GRAY. – George (Charlie) of Cationdale, Finstown, passed away suddenly on 4th January, 2026.  A loving husband to Sheilah, devoted dad to Lindsey and Stewart, father-in-law to Steve and Lee-Anne, grandad to Ben, James, Kieran, Matthew and Leah.  He will be sorely missed by all.  Funeral ceremony on Wednesday, 21st January, at 11am at John Corse.  Family flowers only.

MCCUTCHEON. – John.  Peacefully passed away on 11th December, 2025, aged 88 years.  Beloved husband of the late Roberta.  Much-loved and sadly missed. John’s funeral service will be at the Marengo Centre, St Margaret’s Hope on 19th January, 2026 at 11.30am.  Informal dress.

RYRIE. – Brian, Anfield, Harray, passed away suddenly but peacefully in Macmillan on 6th January, 2026, aged 64. Much-loved partner of Marian, son of Robbie and the late Mabel, brother of Jude and the late Colin, uncle to Rob. Beloved nephew and cousin and dear friend to many. Will be sorely missed by all. Funeral service will take place at John G Corse Funeral Home on Saturday, 24th January, at 11am.

SCLATER. – Valerie (Archibald), sadly passed away at home on 31st December.  Beloved wife of Ian, very much loved mum, granny and great-granny.  Will be sadly missed by all!  Forever in our hearts.  Funeral will take place on Thursday, 22nd January, at 12pm from the funeral home.

SLATER. – James (Jim) passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, on Saturday, 27th December, 2025, aged 94 and a half years.  Husband of the late Reta, very sadly missed by Jean, Sophie, Bruce and families.  At rest.
