Death Notices

BAIN. – Magnus passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, 15th September, 2026.  Much-loved husband of Fiona, proud dad to Elsa and Rhona, brother and best friend to Robert and his wife, Isobel.  Dearly loved and so sadly missed.

FLAWS. – Lynn, passed away peacefully on 11/09/26, at Vestrafiold, Quoyloo, aged 63 years.  A devoted Mam to the late Neil, Erica, Graham, Rachael, Megan-Lee, Andrew and families. A much-loved daughter, sister, niece, aunty and a dear friend to so many. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her.

GIBSON. – Peacefully after a short illness at The Balfour Hospital, Kirkwall, on Sunday, 13th September, 2026, Islean, aged 49. Current headteacher of Dounby Primary School, and past teacher/headteacher of several Perthshire schools. Formerly of Carnoustie. Dearly loved daughter of Roderick and the late Carolyn (nee Reid), loved sister of the late Jamie, a good friend to many. A celebration of her life will be held in Parkgrove Crematorium, Friockheim, on Monday, 12th October, at 12.30pm to which all relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

OAG. – John sadly passed away at his home in Dounby on 16th September, 2026, aged 71. Much-loved brother to Robert and Martin and their families. Special thanks to Orkney home care, Crossroads, community nurses, Dounby Surgery and Macmillan, who all helped to keep John at home during his illness. He will be greatly missed by his family and former colleagues at the OIC. John was a loyal, quiet and honest man who lived life in his own way.

PEACE. – Leslie, aged 84, passed away peacefully at home on the 26th August, 2026.  Much-loved mum to Ann and Rob, granny and great-granny.  Will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
