Fire service deal with Sandwick blaze

The fire service was called yesterday evening to extinguish a blaze on grassland in Sandwick.

According to a spokesman from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service the fire spread to an area of approximately 300 square meters near Skerryvoe.

One appliance from Stromness Fire Station attended and crew extinguished the fire using beaters and a hose reel jet.

It is not yet known if the fire was started deliberately.
