Road works in Kirkwall and on Second Barrier
Parts of Broad Street, Victoria Street and Tankerness Lane in Kirkwall will be closed from today, Â Tuesday, and Thursday, April 12, inclusive.
The road will be open for deliveries before 9am each day and between midday-1pm and 3pm-3.30pm. Traffic signs will be erected to indicate when the specified lengths of road are closed, and parking will not be permitted.
The areas affected are:
- Broad Street, Kirkwall from its junction with Palace Road, Kirkwall to its junction with Tankerness Lane/ Victoria Street, Kirkwall
- Victoria Street, Kirkwall from its junction with Tankerness Lane/ Broad Street, Kirkwall to the southern boundary of number 1 Victoria Street, Kirkwall
- Tankerness Lane, Kirkwall from its junction with Broad Street/ Victoria Street, Kirkwall in a westerly direction for ten metres
Meanwhile, a one-lane system will be in place on the Number 2 Churchill Barrier between April 10 and April 13, inclusive, to allow maintenance work. Vehicles will be subject to delays and to a possible speed restriction of ten miles per hour and will also be restricted to using one lane of the carriageway. Parking on the Barrier will also be prohibited.
