Crowds flocked to Deerness yesterday, Sunday, for the Orkney Boat Show which took place at The Geo at Newark beach, where an estimated 1200 people enjoyed the event.

The show was organised by the Deerness Small Boat Association who are responsible for the boat slipways at Newark.

The newly refurbished and extended facilities were officially opened by Alistair Buchan, chief executive of Orkney Islands Council.

As well as numerous boats from around Orkney on display, there were a host of other attractions and events held during the day, including a visit by Kirkwall Lifeboat and the ever popular raft race.
