Exhibition in Harray outlines electricity connection proposal
An exhibition takes place in the Harray Hall today, Thursday, to keep the public up to date with a proposed new electricity connection between the West Mainland of Orkney and Caithness.
Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission Ltd (SHETL) has published a consultation document asking for views on a proposed new electricity connection, which is needed to accommodate the tidal and wave renewable energy projects being developed in the Pentland Firth and Orkney waters.
The document, which can be downloaded from www.sse.com/OrkneyCaithness sets out preferred options for the new Orkney substation site, cable connection route, Orkney landfall, subsea cable route, Caithness landfall, and connecting cable route to Dounreay substation.
The exhibition runs from 2pm until 7pm.
