Fire destroys Dounby property

A fire, which broke out in the early hours of this morning, has destroyed a house in Dounby

Two crews from Stromness fire station and one from Kirkwall attended the blaze, on the Geothe Road, Dounby, just after 2am and used two water jets and, due to worries regarding the presence of hazardous materials, a ground monitor.

The fire services left the property at 9.52am this morning. It is believed that no one was hurt.
