The first cruise ship of the 2014 season has arrived in Orkney.

The Norwegian owned Gann, carrying 109 passengers and 62 crew, tied up at Kirkwall Pier this morning, and is set to leave again this afternoon for Stavanger.

The vessel is owned by a private school in Stavanger which educates young students to be sailors.

During the school year, they live on board, study, and get tuition in navigation, deckwork, catering, and other aspects of life and work at sea.

Although she is sometimes a training vessel, the Gann is used as a cruise ship in summer. She is the largest ship owned by the school, and can accommodate more than 200 people.
