Fundraising concert is first event for new theatre

The first event to take place in the new Orkney Theatre will take place tonight, in aid of the Shetland and Orkney MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Research Project.

A myriad of local live music acts will take to the stage, in support of the new charity, which must raise £30,000 towards the initiative, aiming to explore why Orkney and Shetland have the highest prevalence of MS in the world. The event, which has already sold out, is entitled “A Terrible Grand Concert,” and will be compered by Andy Cant and Billy Jolly.

The research project will cost £60,000 in total, half of which will be provided by Edinburgh University. The rest of the money must be raised in Orkney and Shetland, and it is hoped that this concert will be the first of many local events in support of the project.

The concert, will start at 7pm and doors open at 6.30pm. Entrance is via the new school’s main door.
