Gilmour Shield set for kick-off

The 2014 Gilmour Shield — the outdoor seven-a-side football competition for primary schools — is due to kick-off at the Picky Outfield today, running from 10am to 3.30pm.

This year, 21 teams will be competing in four groups, with the top two teams in each group progressing to the quarter-finals.

Organisers, the Orkney Youth Development Group, are particularly pleased to see two islands schools — Westray and Shapinsay — joining the Mainland schools for this year’s contest.
