Bobby Oag has claimed one of the very first gold medals up for grabs at the Island Games in Bermuda.

The Orkney triathlete stormed to victory in the event held this morning, with fellow team mates Paul Kerr and Torquil Clyde finishing in 15th and 18th positions respectively. The results also mean that Orkney claimed silver medal in the triathlon team event.

Oag finished in a time of 2.00.04 – more than a minute ahead of Gudmundur Joensen from the Faroe Islands who took the runners-up spot. Shetland’s Peter Fenwick took the bronze.
