Grounded vessel taken back to Kirkwall

The salmon farm work boat which ran aground off Carness Point last night was later recovered and taken to Kirkwall.

Shetland Coastguard said that they were informed of the incident just before 7pm, and requested Kirkwall Lifeboat attend the vessel, the Robina III, which had one person onboard at the time.

The lifeboat, which had just left Kirkwall Pier on regular exercise, went to the aid of the vessel and a pump was put onboard, as the vessel was taking water. Other salmon farm work boats also stood by.

The work boat Orcadia later recovered the boat and took it alongside Kirkwall Pier.
