Transport Scotland, an agency of the Scottish Government, has published a report into the breakdown of the ferry Hamnavoe last year.

It details the timeline of events and actions carried out by Serco NorthLink in the days and weeks following the breakdown, which saw the vessel out of service for almost a month during May, and replaced on the route by the freight ship Helliar.

The contents of the report has brought reaction from Orkney Islands Council and Serco NorthLink, full details of which will be published in The Orcadian on Thursday.
