Judo Champ to visit Stromness Academy

Stromness Academy will be visited by 2002 Commonwealth Games judo champion Michelle Vidler this Wednesday.

During her visit, which is part of the ‘Sky Sports: Living for Sport’ project currently running at the school, she will delivering some practical judo sessions and talking with fifth year pupils involved in the initiative.

This will be Michelle’s second visit to the academy through the project.

She will also be working with first year pupils to look at the benefits of exercise and a healthy diet.

Michelle earned a place on the British Judo Team aged just 15. At 18 she was Junior European Champion and, aside from going on to win at the Commonwealth Games in 2002, she also competed at the Beijing Olympic games in 2008.
