‘Jump in’ at the Picky Centre

‘Jump In’ – Orkney’s 2012 celebration of dance, music and sport – will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, marking the countdown to the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

“Following on from  the fantastic ‘Dancing in the Isles’ production last year, ‘Jump In’ will see various acts celebrating in their own very unique and creative ways” said project manager, Vicky Millen, who is co-ordinating the event this year.

Orkney Islands Council was awarded £10,000 to coordinate an event in connection with the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Vicky Millen, along with young people who have been chosen to be Youth Legacy Ambassadors, has been working hard over the last few weeks to co-ordinate the celebration.

“The show is going to be great, with local dance groups and musicians being joined by the Shetland African drumming group Aestawast,  Y Dance –  the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland and our new act this year, Indepen-dance,” said Vicky.

The event, in the Pickaquoy Centre, Kirkwall, begins at 7pm.
