NHS Orkney staff briefed on report

Staff at NHS Orkney have been briefed on the findings of the report commissioned by Chief Executive Cathie Cowan into concerns raised by a former member of staff about the relationship between senior management and clinicians.

The external investigation team, led by former NHS chief executive Dr Roger Gibbons, fedback to staff at a series of meetings yesterday, Tuesday.

Cathie Cowan said: “It is important that staff have an opportunity to hear directly from the investigation team before the findings are received at the board in public on October 25. It is my intention having received the report to respond fully to the team’s recommendations which will have been influenced by our staff. It is important that adequate time is given to consider the report with staff before I take my response to the board for their endorsement. All recommendations emerging from the review will be acted on.”
