No towage decision until February 2015

Councillors have received an update report on towage services required by Orkney Harbour Authority.

The subject was discussed, in private, by members of the development and infrastructure committee yesterday, Tuesday.

Earlier this year, Talisman Sinopec Energy UK Limited, operator of the Flotta Oil Terminal, notified the council that it wished to test the market for the provision of towage services for Flotta tanker operations. The council currently has an agreement to provide these services.

Following the meeting, a council statement on the issue said that a further update will be considered by the committee in February 2015. At the meeting, the committee recommended that no decisions are taken meantime on the future provision of towage services.
