Obstructed police officers

A Kirkwall man who admitted obstructing police, while still on bail, appeared from custody at Kirkwall Sheriff Court today, Monday.

Norman Garson Wood, 42, of Buttquoy Park, Kirkwall, pleaded guilty to a charge of obstructing, resisting and hindering police at Kirkwall Police Station on Sunday evening. A not guilty plea to a charge of urinating in Bridge Street was accepted by the court.

Honorary sheriff Tim Wright deferred sentence on Wood until June 6, and ordered that he be released on bail, with the added condition that he should not be under the influence of alcohol in a public place. An additional bail condition was that Wood be the subject of a breath test when required to by police.
