Public meeting in Hoy on Friday

People in Hoy, Walls and Longhope have the chance to put questions to the councillors who serve on Orkney Islands Council’s Development and Infrastructure Committee at a special meeting on Friday.

Members of the committee are spending the day in the communities.  The visit will conclude at a public meeting hosted by the Hoy, Walls and Graemsay Community Council.

The committee plays an important role in promoting economic development in Orkney. Members also debate matters involving Orkney’s external and internal transport links, as well as the running and development of roads, piers, harbours and airfields.

The committee’s remit also includes road safety, traffic management and street lighting, as well as environmental health, food safety, trading standards, planning and building standards, waste management, the promotion of energy efficiency and access to the countryside.

During the day, councillors will visit number of locations in Hoy, Walls and Longhope. The public meeting is at North Walls junior high school at 7pm.
