‘Race at your own Pace’ fundraising run

A five-kilometre “Race At Your Own Pace” charity event is being organised by the Kirkwall branch of Tesco next month, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Chelsea Kirkpatrick explained: “As it sounds, participants can walk, jog or run the course. The idea is based on the bigger ‘Race for Life’ events that Tesco sponsor down on the mainland.

“It is being held on Sunday, February 10, at 10.30am, with the course starting at Tesco, going around Scapa, and finishing at Tesco.

“We already have 50 people signed up to take part, both colleagues and customers, which is an overwhelming response so far.”

She added: “It is the first time Tesco has held an event like this, but will definitely do it again if this one is successful.”
