School hostel drugs investigation concludes
A young person has been referred to the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration for an alleged drugs-related offence, following an incident at Papdale Halls of Residence.
Police confirmed this Sunday evening that an inquiry has concluded into the incident, which resulted in five young people being taken to accident and emergency after consuming an unknown substance in a capsule.
The incident began on Wednesday night. Two of the young people involved were kept in for observation and treatment and both were discharged by Thursday evening.
Following their enquiries officers now believe there are no further capsules in circulation but are still urging people to remain cautious.
If any suspicious tablets, capsules or powders are found please ensure they are handed into a parent, teacher, police officer or other responsible adult for safe destruction.
OIC executive director of education, leisure and housing, James Wylie, said: “Despite the swift conclusion of this investigation, we will continue to work with Police Scotland on informative and preventative educational sessions for pupils, staff and parents across secondary schools and departments including Papdale Halls.”
