The results of a mock Scottish independence referendum by senior pupils at Kirkwall Grammar School and Stromness Academy, are to be announced tomorrow afternoon (Friday 28).

The mock referendums, are a follow-up to the Question Time style panel discussions held in the schools on Monday (March 24)  and broadcast on BBC Radio Orkney.

For the first time, anyone aged 16 or over on September 18 will be eligible to vote in the forthcoming Scottish independence referendum and, both the panel discussions and the mock referendums, are part of Orkney Islands Council’s on-going efforts to engage first time young voters in the referendum process.

The declaration of the result will be made in the supper room of the Kirkwall Community Centre between 3.30pm and 4.30pm tommorow (Friday 28). The results will also be published on the OIC website — www.orkney.gov.uk.
