Shetland writer takes first place in Orcrime short-story competition

The winners of the Orcrime short story competition organised by Orkney Library and Archive and the George Mackay Brown Fellowship, were announced at the library today, on the first day of the festival.

The winning entry was a short story entitled, Prisoner, by Shetland writer, Alex Duggan.

Second prize went to Margaret Storr for her story, Mrs Frewwin’s Bottom Drawer and Jane Verburg, from Cromarty, came third with her entry entitled, Widow.

Ann makes a return visit to the library this evening to talk about her work, including the soon-to-be-televised Shetland series.
