South Ronaldsay set for Festival of the Horse parade and ploughing match

The South Ronaldsay Parade of Horses and Boys’ Ploughing Match will take place on Saturday.

The annual South Ronaldsay Boys’ Ploughing Match will take place tomorrow.

The event will be held at a much earlier time due to the tides being unsuitable for the ploughing at the usual time.

The traditional Festival of the Horse parade will start at 10am at the ’Hope Community School, with live music for entertainment.

This will be followed by the ploughing match itself, beginning at 12 noon at the Sands o’ Wright, with competitors only returning to the school afterwards for the prizegiving at 3pm.
