Stromness Lifeboat in RIB rescue

Stromness Lifeboat was called out last night to go to the aid of a rigid inflatable boat which was in difficulty off Hoy with six people onboard.

A Shetland Coastguard spokesman said that they received a call around 8.15pm saying that a bilge pump had been lost from the vessel.

Stromness Lifeboat was called to the scene, off the Kame of Hoy, and it was discovered that the boat had also been damaged, due to a wave or the heavy sea conditions.

The lifeboat escorted the RIB, named Blaze, back into Stromness, arriving around 9pm. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
