Traditional shopfronts showcase for Stromness
An event aimed at inspiring a return to traditional shop signage in the historic heart of Stromness is being planned by OIC’s Stromness Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) team.
The event, scheduled for November, will be targeted at business owners in the Stromness Conservation Area who could benefit from part-funding available through the Stromness THI for replacement signage.
Meantime, the THI team is looking for examples of shop signage work from relevant Orkney businesses to showcase at the event.
Details of firms taking part would be included in a directory of traditional shop signage suppliers, for circulating to business owners in the conservation area.
Businesses which provide joinery work, sign painting, decorative metal working or ceramic work such as tiling and ceramic motifs are encouraged to contact the Stromness THI team to register their interest in displaying.
