All systems go for first Orkney Rock Festival

The Orkney Rock Festival is due to make it’s debut on the county’s calendar of events, tonight.

Twenty-one bands will perform in Kirkwall venues over the weekend, in the mammoth event, which is presented by Orkney Live Wire. New local band, Electric Mother will start the proceedings, at 6.30pm, in The Torvaugh.

The event, which features a range of bands as far travelled as Edinburgh, will come to a close in the town’s Sailing Club, on Sunday night, with performances by local reunion bands, The Silver Penguins and Bad Dog No Biscuit.
