Anonym-art event raises funds for Age Concern Orkney

The novel idea of an anonymous art sale has returned to a Kirkwall gallery to raise funds for Age Concern Orkney.

Artists from all over the county will be donating original, postcard-size artwork, which will be displayed anonymously with a signature on the back of the piece, meaning the artist of each individual piece remains a secret until the cards are purchased for the price of £10 each.

Co-ordinator Sue Ward explained: “We had a brilliant response last year and raised over £1,000, which all went to support the work we do with older people locally. Folk visiting the exhibition really enjoyed trying to spot well-known artists’ work and selling was very brisk.”

The “Anonym-art” event, at the For Arts Sake upstairs gallery, in Kirkwall’s Bridge Street, runs until November 21.
