Commercial Hotel in running for Civic Trust Award
The recently renovated Commercial Hotel, in Stromness, is in the running for a Civic Trust Award for 2013.
The project to renovate the former hotel, undertaken by the Stromness Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI), has already been named as a regional finalist in the Awards.
The THI team will hear in January whether the Commercial Hotel project has gone on to be considered for a Civic Trust award, a commendation or community recognition at a national or international level.
The Commercial Hotel was purchased by the Council in 2008 as part of the £3.8million Stromness Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI). So far, the THI has seen the conservation area of the town undergo a major facelift, with many traditional building features being brought back into use.
