Commissioner refuses haulage company operator’s licence
A Sanday haulier, who was awarded an OIC contract to transport bulk materials, has been refused an operator’s licence.
The Traffic Commissioner for Scotland, Joan Aitken, refused the licence application from Andrew Robert Gibson Muir, of Knowes, following a public inquiry, in Kirkwall, on May 25, which was called after Mr Muir made his goods vehicle operator licence application, trading as Sanday Haulage.
Ms Aitken refused the application on the grounds of lack of repute, after she found he had been operating his haulage company without a licence.
She said: “Fair competition demands that I refuse this application, for to grant it would be to condone, for all practical purposes, an unlicensed operator getting public contracts.”
