Could you be Orkney’s next Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament?
Young people interested in standing as one of Orkney’s two representatives on the Scottish Youth Parliament are being invited to register their nominations.
Any young person aged between 14 and 25 is eligible to stand for election to represent Orkney at the Scottish Youth Parliament – as long as they live in Orkney and have an interest in their community and a passion for democracy.
The nomination period is open until Friday, January 25, with elections being held in March.
After a period of training, successful candidates will go on to represent Orkney as Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) for a two-year period.
To register a nomination, see www.syp.org.uk/elections or contact local SYP elections co-ordinator Ernie Skea at ernie.skea@orkney.gov.uk or by telephone on 873535 ext 2424.
