Deerness community speaks out on turbine developments
A high rate of return on a recent survey by the Deerness Hall Committee has been welcomed by members as a clear reflection of local views on existing and future wind turbine developments in the parish.
There were 167 respondents (53 per cent), and 136 (81 per cent) of those expressed opposition to a planned development at the Barns of Ayre. One-hundred and thirty seven (82 per cent) were opposed to any more large-scale turbines in the area and 101 (60 per cent) opposed a community turbine.
Commenting on the report, Gill Smee said: “We now have a very clear picture of the majority view and hope that current and future developers, councillors and community Councillors will find these results useful when important decisions are being made.”
