Find out how the climate challenge fund can work for Orkney – McArthur

Orkney MSP Liam McArthur is urging community groups to take up the Scottish Government’s invitation to events promoting the Climate Challenge Fund on Thursday, February 7, at either 11am-3pm, or 6pm-8pm in the St Magnus Centre, Kirkwall.

The Climate Challenge Fund provides financial support to community groups across Scotland undertaking projects to reduce emissions and creating a sustainable legacy within communities.  In the five years since its launch, the fund has made 550 awards to a value of £44.7 million –  14 of which were for projects in Orkney.

Mr McArthur said: “I would encourage anyone involved in community groups, associations, or councils to attend one of the two sessions this coming Thursday to learn more about the CCF.  I know that groups across Orkney have received funding in the past to improve the energy efficiency of community halls, to provide energy efficiency advice, to lower their carbon footprint, and to encourage reducing, reusing and recycling.

“These two free events will give an opportunity to chat through ideas with a CCF Development Officer, and learn how the CCF could do even more to support groups within Orkney.  I hope that community groups in Orkney will attend, and come up with innovative projects to deliver long lasting benefits for all.”
