Scapa Flow hosts specialised oil ship
A floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) arrived in Orkney waters between Christmas and New Year.
The Petrojarl Banff is usually stationed in the North Sea around 120 miles east of Aberdeen. During recent heavy storms, the vessel drifted 250 metres off location. As a result the subsea structure that links the ship to the seabed was damaged.
The Petrojarl Banff was towed to Scapa Flow, where it will remain at anchor while subsea checks are carried out.
The 120-metre ship, which has 3,616 tonnes of oil on board, will be anchored in Scapa Flow for a few weeks.
