Freight ship being repaired

A Serco NorthLink freight ship has been taken out of service for repairs after suffering from rudder problems.

A Serco NorthLink Ferries spokesperson said that the scheduled departure of the Helliar was cancelled yesterday, Thursday, due to technical difficulties with one of the vessel’s rudders.

As a result, the ship has been placed in dry-dock so that the problem can be investigated immediately, and any necessary repairs carried out.

The company added that updates will be provided as soon as repair schedules have been identified.
