Lifeboat called to diver
Kirkwall Lifeboat was launched today  to go to the aid of a diver in difficulties off the coast of Gairsay.
Shetland Coastguard who co-ordinated the rescue, said that they were alerted to the incident which involved the local dive boat Fair Fortune at around 11.15am.
The lifeboat crew transferred the diver to Kirkwall, arriving at 12.20pm. The Kirkwall Coastguard Rescue Team then assisted with transferring him to an ambulance.
The Coastguard said that the diver was then treated in a decompression chamber.
