Lifeboats launched twice to rescue same vessel
Kirkwall Lifeboat was launched on Tuesday afternoon to assist a yacht spotted lying on its side at Puldrite Skerry.
According to Shetland Coastguard, the sole occupant of the Vamoose was unharmed and able to continue sailing following the incident.
However, at around 4.45am on Wednesday morning, the Stromness Lifeboat was called to assist the same vessel.
The RNLI said that the yacht had run aground on the Stromness side of the Outer Holm, at the entrance to Stromness Harbour.
The crew launched the inflatable Y Boat and took a tow-line to the yacht which was quickly towed off the shallows and into the Stromness Marina.
The yacht sustained no visible damage and the single crew member was unharmed.
