Marking 20 years of Orkney rambling . . .

A 20km walk is taking place today to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Orkney Ramblers’ Club.

The club, which was founded in 1992, has grown in size over the years, with 37 current members and four life members, and walks are organised on every other Sunday throughout the year.

The anniversary walk, which will start at the Brough of Birsay and finish at the Merkister Hotel in Harray. Those who may find it difficult to complete the whole 20km can join the walk at intermediate points at Skaill Bay and Quoyloo, and it is intended that all walkers, whatever their start point, will finish the walk together at the Merkister Hotel, where a dinner will finish the day.
