New website showcases Orkney food and drink

A new website showcasing the very best of Orkney food and drink has been launched today.

The site – www.orkneyfoodanddrink.com – aims to promote local food and drink firms, while highlighting news, events, awards and other activities in the sector.

Funded by Highland and Islands Enterprise, Orkney Islands Council and the LEADER programme, the new food and drink site has been created by Shetland based NB Communication.

Edgar Balfour, development manager for Orkney food, drink and crafts, said: “Given the economic significance of food and drink for Orkney, we felt it was vital to have a dedicated online presence for the sector.

“The new site is attractive, easy to use and will act as the first port of call for anyone looking to find out about Orkney food and drink, or learn more about our member and associate businesses. It’ll also be the place to keep up to date with news on food and drink related events and activities in Orkney, such as this year’s Orkney Food Festival.”
