Nominations open for coaching awards

Orkney Islands Council is looking for nominations for this year’s sportscotland Orkney Coaching, Officiating and Volunteering Awards.

The awards recognise the dedication, hard work and achievements of the coaches, volunteers and officials who work with local sports clubs.

There are nine categories: Young Coach of the Year (under 25); Young Person’s Coach of the Year; Community Coach of the Year; Development Coach of the Year; Performance Coach of the Year; Disability Coach of the Year; Young Volunteer of the Year (under 25); Volunteer of the Year; and Official of the Year.

Winners receive a trophy and money towards coaching aids, equipment or up-skilling at their club, and are automatically entered into the Highlands and Islands Regional Award, where they go up against their counterparts in Shetland, the Western Isles and the Highlands.

Nominations close on Friday, August 22. For more information, contact the council, and nomination forms can be picked up at the One Stop Shop in Kirkwall.
