There have been fresh calls for North Ronaldsay to have harbour facilities upgraded after winter storms have left the community with a much reduced ferry service over recent months.

Islanders have praised the staff and management of Orkney Ferries in their efforts in attempting to get boats to the island, and for arranging extra charter flights to serve the community.

However, they say that it is now time to highlight the issue of the poor pier facilities, and feel the time is also right to get the issue of ro-ro back on the agenda with the OIC.
