Norwegian Royal Visit announced
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway will arrive for a two-day visit on Friday, June 16, during the opening weekend of the St Magnus Festival.
Members of the Norwegian Royal Family are due to visit Orkney, next month, as part of the Magnus 900 commemorations.
According to a spokesperson from the Norwegian Embassy, the royal visit will celebrate historical and enduring ties between Norway and Orkney.
At the St Magnus Festival, they are expected to attend the opening performance of I, Pilgrim, by Norwegian dramatist Jon Fosse, with music by the Scottish composer Alasdair Nicolson.
They will also pay tribute to the Norwegian sailors and wartime soldiers who have been laid to rest in Orkney.
According to the Norwegian Embassy, Skara Brae also features high on their itinerary.
