OIC congratulate new Lord–Lieutenant

Orkney Islands Council has offered its congratulations to Bill Spence, on his appointment as Orkney’s new Lord–Lieutenant.

OIC Convener Steven Heddle said: “As Norway’s honorary consul in Orkney for many years, as Vice Lord-Lieutenant, and more lately Acting Lord–Lieutenant – and in many other aspects of public life – Bill makes a big contribution to our community.

“The close working relationship between the council and Orkney’s Lord–Lieutenant is important in the smooth running and success of Royal visits and other civic events. Bill will be an excellent Lord–Lieutenant. I would like to congratulate him on his appointment and I look forward to working with him in the future.”
