OIC planning committee heads to Westray
The OIC planning committee will notch up a first this month when it holds one of its meetings outwith the council chamber.
The committee will meet at 10.30am in the Community Room of Westray Junior High School on Thursday, November 22, following a site visit to a proposed wind turbine development on the island.
Vice-chairman of the planning committee, Owen Tierney, said: “Site visits are an important and regular part of the planning decision making process, but this time we’re taking it a step further and holding the actual meeting ‘on site’ too.
“By holding the meeting in Westray we’re showing that all the planning applications that come through us are important to us no matter where they are in Orkney. It means too that folk in Westray can attend the meeting and see the decision making process right the way through.”
Committee papers will be available at the meeting, which is open to the public, and at the council’s website.
