Orkney companies in the running for energy awards

The Orkney business on the final shortlist for the 2012 Energy North Awards will find out in Inverness tonight whether they have been successful.

The awards recognise the top organisations and individuals in the oil and gas, renewables and supply chain sectors.

Specialist oil company Opus, which has a research facility in Flotta, has been nominated in the best oil and gas category and the best service supply category.

In addition, Stromness-based EMEC and the Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters Marine Energy Park are on the shortlist for the best renewables offshore category, while environmental services and products company Aquatera has been nominated in the best export category.
