Orkney victorious in Junior Inter-County netball

Orkney have emerged victorious in the first Junior Inter-County event of 2012.

The county’s young netball team defeated their Shetland counterparts 41-34, at the Pickaquoy Centre this morning.

After a tight first quarter Orkney began to stamp their authority in the second and third quarters, and had a 34-27 lead going into the final period. Despite a flurry of Shetland goals, Orkney managed to regain their composure and held out for the win.

The swimming event is scheduled to begin at 2pm, in the Kirkwall Pool.
